Did Jordan Spieth make the cut at the 2024 John Deere Classic? Exploring the ex-champion's performance

Jordan Spieth successfully made it through the cutline at the 2024 John Deere Classic with 6-under and sits at T47 on the leaderboard after Round 2. The player director has won the John Deere Classic twice in his career, in 2013 and 2015.

In the opening round, Spieth birdied his first two holes followed by a bogey on the fourth in the front nine. He then bogeyed the par 4 11th followed by two birdies on holes 15 and 17. His round ended at 2-under 69.

The champion fared better on the next day, starting with two consecutive birdies followed by one on the 4th and another on the 9th. In the last nine, Spieth bogeyed two consecutive holes, followed by birdies on 14 and 17. His total of six birdies and two bogeys saw him end the second round at 4-under 67.

The event is led by Aaron Rai and C.T. Pan who jointly sit atop the scoreboard at 14-under, both making the cutline. Other notable golfers who made it are Lucas Glover (T18), Keith Mitchell (T18), Zach Johnson (T18), Jason Day (T47), Sepp Straka (T59) and Jake Knapp (T59), among others.


With Jordan Spieth headed to the weekend, which notable golfers failed to make it at the Classic?

77 golfers have made it through the cutline at the 2024 John Deere Classic but several renowned golfers won't be playing on Saturday:

Daniel Berger: He has missed three cuts in his last four starts including the Classic, where his scores of 68 and 70 weren't enough to make it to round three.

Nick Dunlap: Although Dunlap carded four and five birdies on Thursday and Friday, respectively, they couldn't take him to the weekend.

Matt Kuchar: The World No. 106 scored 69 and 70 over the two days and failed to make the cut. His best shot was an eagle on the 18th hole in the first round.

Kevin Kisner: Kevin Kisner had a good start at the John Deere Classic with 3-under 68 but he couldn't carry the form into Round 2 and ended up scoring 1-over. Therefore, he missed the cut at the event.

Wesley Bryan: The American missed the cutline with 1-over. His scores were 69 and 74 over the two days. As of now, he's missed his sixth cut in eight starts.

Peter Malnati: Malnati’s current form is average as he finished at T74 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and T70 at the Travelers Championship. He also missed the cut at the US Open before not being able to get past Round 2 at the John Deere Classic.
