Collin Morikawa considered challenging Michael Phelps' swimming records as the American golfer enjoys his time away from the greens. He last played at the Presidents Cup, where Team USA registered an incredible win over Team International.
Following the conclusion of the biennial tournament, players teed off this week at the Sanderson Farms Championship on the PGA Tour and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the DP World Tour. However, Morikawa is taking a break this week.
Away from the course, the two-time Major winner posted a picture of himself swimming. In the caption, he mentioned Michael Phelps' record and humorously asked if an average swimmer could swim faster.
"@m_phelps00 fastest 100m swim is about 47 seconds. Can an average swimmer swim 50m faster?" he wrote.
Notably, Olympic legend Michael Phelps is an avid golfer. He frequently attends golf tournaments and plays whenever he can. He attended the 2024 Paris Olympics Golf events and shared a picture of his outing on Instagram.
"This wins the gold medal for best selfie," he wrote in the caption.
Collin Morikawa also competed at the Paris Olympics, representing the USA. He shot four rounds of 70, 68, 70, and 70, finishing in a tie for 24th place. Scottie Scheffler won the gold medal at the event.
Collin Morikawa’s wife shares behind-the-scenes moments from 2024 Presidents Cup
Last week, Collin Morikawa played for Team USA at the 2024 Presidents Cup. The team faced a tough battle but ultimately secured their tenth consecutive victory.
Following the event, Collin's wife, Katherine, shared glimpses of the golfer's outing at the prestigious tournament on her Instagram account. She posted pictures and videos of her and Collin from the Royal Montreal Golf Club.
In one of the snaps, Katherine was spotted sitting on Morikawa's lap while they were in a golf cart, alongside Scottie Scheffler and his wife, Meredith. She also shared a painting of Collin that she had made prior to the tournament.
Notably, wives and girlfriends of both the International and USA teams participated in a fun activity of painting their partners at the Presidents Cup. Katherine proudly shared her creative artwork.

Collin Morikawa had an incredible outing at the Presidents Cup, scoring four points for his team. He also enjoyed a successful season on the PGA Tour in 2024.
He has played in 21 tournaments on the circuit so far and made the cut in 19 of them. He started the campaign with a T5 finish at The Sentry and played last, before the Presidents Cup, at the Tour Championship, where he finished in second place. The 27-year-old recorded two runner-up finishes and eight finishes in the top 10 this season.
