Australian golfer Adam Scott has set a new course record at the BMW Championship. He shot 63 (-9) during the second round of the event at the Castle Pines Golf Club in Colorado.
Scott is currently leading the pack with a two-shot lead ahead of American Keegan Bradley in the ongoing second round. He started off the week in the 41st position in the FedEx Cup rankings. But with his sensational second round, he has catapulted himself into the top five in the projections to advance to the Tour Championship.
The top 30 of the BMW Championship will qualify for the Tour Championship at East Lake. According to Yahoo, he had said after the first round:
"I still believe I have the game in me to be in that elite group of players on the PGA Tour and I still think I've got some wins in me out here."
Adam Scott has struggled for consistency in recent years. In fact, he was at risk of missing out on qualifying for the BMW Championship. But he is definitely putting on a strong display at the event and might even make the cut for the Tour Championship.

Australian golfer Adam Scott has really turned the tables at the BMW Championship, and is enjoying a lead in the ongoing second round. His current score is 13-under, and he has also set the new course record.
The final round of the BMW Championship will be on Sunday and Scott is determined to be in contention for the win. According to Clutch Points, he said:
"It's a great round. I think I took advantage of good conditions this morning and hopefully set myself up to have a real run at this thing on Sunday now."
Scott almost hit a hole-in-one on the par-3 16th but fell a little short. However, he followed that hit with a birdie on 17. He reflected on his round and shared what worked well for him.
"I played within myself. I picked fairly conservative targets. But it was a good day to be aggressive when you had the right number, like on 16… I didn't play overly aggressive, but I think I executed well, and I putted very well today."
By making the field at the Castle Pines Golf Club, he has already set up his 2025 season. Making the cut into the top 50 took some pressure off him this week. This helped him play with "some freedom." According to Fox Sports, he said:
"Of course, I want to make it to Atlanta, but making the top 50 is like kind of keeping your card in a top player group out here these days. That’s going to set me up for a great year next year, so I’m excited about that. I do feel like the pressure is a little bit off this week."
Scott smashed a 390m drive down the 10th hole. It was one of his highlights of the week so far.
"I think the highlight was hitting it 430 (yards) down the 10th, by the way. Forget the iron play."
With his performance, Adam Scott has put himself in contention for a high rank finish. Looking back at his play, Scott said:
"I think I played well today. You know, I think playing at this altitude and working quite hard on every shot with the numbers just to not make mistakes kept me sharp out there, and (I) fell in a good rhythm quickly."
"Didn’t make any putts on the front but then got a few to go off some good shots on the back and got the momentum going in the right direction."
Scott then noted the importance of hitting fairways at the event. He added that he was "a bit surprised" that it was more difficult to play the course than it seemed.
"I was a bit surprised it played more difficult than I thought it would, and I can see now if you’re off out there, you’re going to really struggle because the rough is brutal. It’s going to be important to hit a lot of fairways the rest of the week."
Overall, Adam Scott is delighted with his game so far this week.
"It’s fun to shoot a low round. It’s been a long time. I can’t remember the last time I shot a 63 out here. But it feels good to go low, that I still have that in me. Hopefully, there’s one more this week."
If Adam Scott wins the BMW Championship, it would be his 15th win on the PGA Tour. He still has two days to go, but he will be looking to adavance and do well at the Tour Championship at East Lake at the end of this month.
