On September 26th, the International Team suffered a tough start to its Presidents Cup campaign. Team USA dominated on day one and managed to pull off a clean sweep (5-0) for the fifth time in the tournament's history.

However, it seems like this difficult start has not affected the morale of the International Team. Veteran Adam Scott emphasized that it was not over for his side. He also spoke about what his team must do to turn things around in the Presidents Cup.

Adam Scott said (via the International Team's X handle):

"The best news is there's tomorrow for us. It's not over. We're going to have to come out, fight really hard, find that gear, win a session, and get going in the right direction."

In round one of the Presidents Cup, Adam Scott teamed up with Min Woo Lee to represent the International Team against Team USA golfers Sahith Theegala and Collin Morikawa. While Scott and Lee were leading the match, Theegala and Morikawa staged a brilliant comeback to win one up.

International Team captain Mike Weir also had a positive outlook after a tough Round 1

As mentioned above, the International Team did not start the Presidents Cup in the way it would have wanted. However, team captain Mike Weir, is keeping his spirits up.

In a statement ahead of the second round, Weir assessed the performance of his team on Thursday. The 8-time PGA Tour winner compared the start of the tournament to a hockey game and said there is a long way to go.

Mike Weir said (via PGA Tour):

"It's like the first period of a hockey game the way I look at it. You're down, but there is a long way to go."

Ahead of the second round, Mike Weir also justified an important decision. It was noticed that Tom Kim, who played in Round 1, was made to sit out in Round 2. As per Weir, Kim sitting out is part of the plan.

It's also worth notting that Kim had a heated exchange with Scottie Scheffler on Thursday. The South Korean faced heat from golf analyst Paul McGinley after he walked away from the 8th hole before Scheffler could finish putting.
