5 golfers confirmed in the LIV Golf 2024 Drop Zone after Chicago outing ft. Bubba Watson

The last individual golf event at LIV Golf concluded on Sunday, September 15. Jon Rahm won the LIV Golf Chicago and also the 2024 season title at Bolingbrook Golf Club.

24 players successfully made it to the Lock Zone and are guaranteed renewal of their contract for next year. 24 other players finished in the Open Zone and will become free agents. However, five players have been confirmed in the LIV Golf 2024 Drop Zone.

The standings on the LIV Tour are decided by rankings and the points they receive in individual events. The winner receives 40 points and the runner-up gets 30 points. The scoring system on LIV Golf is as follows:

  • 1st: 40 points
  • 2nd: 30 points
  • 3rd: 24 points
  • 4th: 18 points
  • 5th: 16 points
  • 6th: 14 points
  • 7th: 13 points
  • 8th: 12 points
  • 9th: 11 points
  • 10th: 10 points

5 golfers confirmed in the LIV Golf 2024 Drop Zone after Chicago outing ft. Bubba Watson

Let's take a look at the five golfers who have been confirmed in the LIV Golf 2024 Drop Zone after the Chicago outing.

#1 Bubba Watson

Bubba Watson is one of the notable names that has landed in the LIV Golf Drop Zone. Watson finished 53rd in the LIV Golf standings with 3.66 points. He had only two top-24 finishes in the 2024 season.

He finished 15th at LIV Golf Las Vegas and gained 2.66 points and one point for finishing 21st at Mayakoba. The 45-year-old RangeGoats GC Captain is a 12-time PGA Tour winner, including two Major championships. He made his LIV debut in 2023. He finished 36th last year.

Watson can be still seen playing in the 2025 season if LIV Golf executives deem him suitable for "business reasons." After the final round of LIV Golf Chicago, Watson said (via Sports Illustrated):

"It’s been a tough year. But I think my teammates want me back and I’d like to be back. I know some discussions need to take place and there’s some business considerations. We have one of the most popular teams. Am I part of that? I think I am and I’m committed to playing better."

#2 Kalle Samooja

Kalle Samooja missed the LIV Golf Open Zone by one spot. He finished 49th with 6.20 points. In 13 starts on the LIV Tour, he has two top-20 finishes. He finished 14th on LIV Golf Singapore and then 15th on LIV Golf Chicago.

The Finnish player made his LIV debut in 2024 after clinching his LIV Golf position through 2023 Promotions where he claimed medallist honors.


#3 Scott Vincent

Scott Vincent finished 50th in the individual standings with 6.18 points. On the LIV Tour, he has five top-24 finishes. His best performance came at LIV Golf United Kingdom, where he finished 16th and gained 2.50 points.

Vincent joined the LIV Tour in 2022. He finished 46th in 2022 and 22nd in 2023. Before joining the Saudi breakaway Tour, he had five wins, including three on the Japan Golf Tour.


#4 Branden Grace

Branden Grace finished 51st in the standings and gained only 4.42 points. He had only three top-24 finishes. His best finishes came at Jeddah, where he finished 15th, and at Greenbrier, where he finished 20th.

The South African made his LIV debut in 2022. He finished second in 2022 and ninth in 2023. In 2022, he won LIV Golf Portland by two strokes over Carlos Ortiz.


#5 Kieran Vincent

Kieran Vincent has finished 54th in the LIV Golf individual standings. He could only accumulate 2.75 points. He only registered two top-24 finishes in the 2024 season on LIV. He finished 18th at LIV Golf Nashville and 23rd at LIV Golf Chicago.

The Zimbabwean player turned professional in 2022 and has one win on the Asian Tour and one on the Sunshine Tour. He made his LIV Golf debut in 2024 after qualifying for one of three spots at LIV Golf Promotions in December 2023.
