Jordan Spieth has concluded his final round of the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship. Suffering from a wrist injury, the PGA Tour star finished his event tied for near last place 68th with a score of nine over par in the 70-player field. Following the unfortunate week, Spieth has announced that he will be ending his 2024 season and undergoing surgery.

Spieth has been suffering from a torn and weak tendon sheath in his left wrist. The injury occurred prior to the 2023 PGA Championship and has since caused him to be in great pain. Following the final round at the St. Jude Championship, Spieth told reporters that he plans to undergo an operation as soon as possible to recreate the sheath and prevent dislocation.

The recovery for the surgery is anticipated to be around 3 months. During the post- tournament press conference, the 31-year-old did not disclose the date of the procedure, but is not planning to hurry the recovery process. As he sits in 64th place - outside of the top 50 on the FedEx Cup Rankings - he has ample time to ensure proper healing.

Here's what he had to say about the update (via PGA Tour):

"I've got to have it operated on ASAP, and then I'll go through the process of what I'm supposed to do from there. ... I think there’s some clarity in getting it done. There’s also some uncertainty, and so it’s a little scary. But also, if I can learn to find some patience — which I’m not very good at doing — then I think I could come back stronger. ... Anything that impacted the ground was not a good scenario for me this year."
