The Open Championship 2024 is underway at the Royal Troon Golf Club. After two rounds of intense golf, Shane Lowry is currently leading the pack. However, while Round 3 is currently being played, there is a chance of the Major Championship's schedule being affected by rain.

This has led to questions among fans whether The Open Championship has ever finished on a Monday. The answer to this question is yes. The Open Championship has witnessed a Monday finish on two different occasions. Once in 1988 and the other in 2015.

In 1988, The Open Championship finished on Monday due to bad weather. On that day, Seve Ballesteros played what he called "the round of [my] life" to win his third Open Championship. He beat Nick Price and Nick Faldo in spectacular fashion to win The Open, his fifth and last major victory.

In 2015, it was bad weather again that pushed The Open Championship to finish on Monday. This was the 144th edition of the Major championship and it was won by Zach Johnson. He beat Louis Oosthuizen and Marc Leishman in a four-hole play-off to take home the Claret Jug.
