The 2024 Genesis Scottish Open is underway at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland. With the final round set to be played tomorrow, Robert MacIntyre sits in solo second place with a three-round score of 15 under par, two strokes behind leader Ludvig Aberg.

Last year, MacIntyre was just inches away from taking home the championship. However, MacIntyre lost the championship by one stroke after a thrilling contest with Rory McIlroy. Since the loss, MacIntyre picked up his maiden win on the PGA Tour last month at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open. Several fans expect the star to pick up on the confidence and carry it through to victory at the Genesis Scottish Open.

In conversation with Sirius XM PGA Tour Radio, Robert MacIntyre was asked if he was thinking about getting his "heart ripped out" after last year's edition of the event. The Scottish star replied,

" No. I mean, it happened for a reason. I'm gonna pull in all the positives that I've had. Obviously, Myrtle Beach, the PGA, Canada, and everything else. I mean its all learning experiences and tomorrow is going to be no different. [I'm going to] Go out there, keep doing what I'm doing and try and hit the best golf shots that I can. Accept that they'll come and if it's got me on the right side of it or not then yeah, we're gonna give it everything."

In the 2023 edition of the Genesis Scottish Open, Robert MacIntyre became the first Scottish player since Martin Laird in 2020 to contend for the PGA Tour title. He battled head-to-head with Rory McIlroy, but an unfortunate bogey on the par-five 16th hole at Renaissance Club proved costly.

Ahead of the final round of this year's edition, MacIntyre intends to have a clear mind. In addition to feeling supported by his supporters, he finds encouragement in competing in his own nation. The PGA Tour winner believes that the Renaissance Course brings out the best in him because he understands the links style, has good ball striking, and can play a variety of shot shapes to avoid the deep bunkers.
