The Fortnite downtime today (October 12, 2024) is scheduled to begin at 2 am ET, with matchmaking being disabled at 1:30 am ET. It will end at 8 am ET. This will be the fourth major update (v31.40) for Chapter 5 Season 4 (Absolute Doom) and will mark the start of Fortnitemares 2024.

Other than map changes, there are a few collaborations slated to arrive. This is a guarantee as Epic Games always collaborates during major in-game season events.
Mephisto, alongside Ghost Ri-Durrr and Billy The Puppet from Saw, is going to be the headline collaboration this year. Leatherface and Disney Villians Cruella DeVille, Captain Hook, and Maleficent are also officially part of Fortnitemares 2024.
Lastly, as is tradition, Horde Rush LTM will be added back for a while. Team up with friends and other players to stop the horde and defeat the final boss at the end of your run.
