The Fortnite downtime today (October 1, 2024) will begin at 4 am ET. This will be the third major update for Chapter 5 Season 4 (Absolute Doom). It will usher in the spooky month and Fortnitemares 2024. Epic Games has officially dubbed this as the v31.30 update. As per the information provided, the servers will be online again by 6 am ET.

Despite this being the third major update, no information has been revealed about what we could see added to the game. There are a few speculations based on the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 (v31.30 update) early patch notes, but not everything may come to fruition.

On that note, if you are still in-game at this time, consider logging off before 3:30 am ET, as matchmaking will be disabled. Furthermore, with Fortnite servers being partially down on PS5, PlayStation players should call it a night. There's no point in risking progress for a bit of extra XP. If you still want to grind out your Absolute Battle Pass, Fortnite Creative is a safe option.

How long will the Fortnite downtime today (October 1, 2024) last?

As mentioned, Epic Games has announced that the Fortnite downtime today (October 1, 2024) will last for two hours, from 4 am to 6 am ET. This could change based on certain factors such as technical issues, but for the most part, the timeline should be stable. At the most, the maintenance could extend for three hours, but that's about it.

Content changes for Fortnite update v31.30

In terms of new content coming to Fortnite update v31.30, nothing has been mentioned in an official capacity. The only thing that can be confirmed is that a new "Sleep Mode" is being added to the game. If you remain inactive in-game for 15 minutes, your squadmates will be notified that you've stepped away from the keyboard (perhaps to touch grass).

When Sleep Mode has been activated, Voice Chat will be paused, and matchmaking will be canceled. The timer for Sleep Mode can be adjusted under the Sleep Mode and Energy Saving option. Details regarding this should be revealed once the Fortnite downtime today (October 1, 2024) ends.

Aside from this official change, not much else is known. There was a recent leak regarding Shaq (Shaquille O'Neal) getting his own Icon Series in-game soon, but information is rather limited. Perhaps during the Fortnite downtime today (October 1, 2024), leakers/data miners will be able to showcase his in-game Outfit in all its glory (wonder how tall he'd be in-game).

Lastly, we may get some Fortnitemares 2024 teasers, but there is no confirmation there. With Halloween quite literally 30 days away, it's a bit too soon to build hype. Then again, who knows? With Doom present on the island, Mephisto could arrive for Halloween alongside Ghost Ri-Durrr and Billy The Puppet from Saw.

We may get some information about the aforementioned collaborations during the Fortnite downtime today (October 1, 2024) or perhaps later this month.
