Arne Slot has emphasized the need to improve Liverpool's away form this season. The Dutch boss believes the Reds can close the gap on Manchester City in the title race by doing so.

The Merseysiders were in excellent form under Jurgen Klopp last season, challenging Arsenal and Manchester City in the title race. However, a handful of dropped points against the likes of Crystal Palace, Manchester United and Everton in the final stages of the campaign saw Liverpool finish third in the league.

Klopp departed Anfield in the summer and the Reds appointed then-Feyenoord boss Arne Slot as their manager. Speaking ahead of their game against Crystal Palace this weekend, Slot detailed the need to improve his side's away form.

He said (via GOAL):

"If you are purely looking at it from a data point of view then it was a 10-point difference to City [on away points collected]. If you look at the home form of both teams then the £10m question is why is this?"

Slot added, recalling Liverpool's 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend:

“I think there are areas we have to improve and that is why it is so important to take control over every game, not only the home games but the away ones too. Just to be very dominant in away games that is why I wasn't very happy with the first 20 minutes at Wolves."

Liverpool currently lead the league table by a point ahead of second-placed Manchester City and third-placed Arsenal.

Antonio Rudiger names Arsenal and Liverpool stars who can 'physically match' Erling Haaland

Real Madrid star Antonio Rudiger believes Virgil van Dijk and William Saliba are the only two defenders in the league who can stop Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian forward has been a goalscoring menace in the English top flight since his arrival at the Etihad. He has scored a whopping 101 goals in 107 games for the Cityzens, matching Cristiano Ronaldo's record of needing the fewest games to reach the century mark.

Discussing Haaland on The Inside Scoop, Rudiger hailed his attacking prowess before claiming Liverpool's Van Dijk and Arsenal center-back Saliba are the only ones who've physically been a match for him in the league.

He said (via Metro):

"There’s rarely people who can physically match him. The ones I’ve seen in the last couple of years is Virgil [Van Dijk], who is the same size as him, that’s a good match up, and I have to say Saliba also did very well."
