South Sudan host Uganda at the Juba Stadium in Juba on Tuesday for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, looking for their first win of the campaign. Ranked 172nd in the world, the Bright Stars have endured a terrible run, losing all three of their qualifying matches.

It began with a narrow 1-0 loss to Congo, followed by a hard-fought 3-2 defeat to South Africa. Last week, Uganda inflicted further damage upon the side, beating them 1-0.

Having never qualified for the AFCON finals before, Nicolas Dupuis' side are seeing their ambitions of making their debut at next year's showpiece fading fast.

By contrast, the Cranes are at the top of the group table with seven points, ahead of South Africa (also 7 points) after scoring more head-to-head away goals.

Paul Put's side were held by South Africa at the death in their opener, before defeating Congo in their next match followed by their win over South Sudan this past Friday.

Another win this week would put them within touching distance of a first qualification since 2019.

  • Nicolas Dupuis' side are ranked 172nd in the world, while their visitors sit 78 places above them, according to the latest FIFA World Rankings.

South Sudan vs Uganda Prediction

The visitors have been the better side and are now on the brink of qualification for the competition. They will feel encouraged to continue in the same vein, aiming for nothing less than a victory.

By contrast, the Bright Stars have been on a low-ebb, losing all three of their qualifying matches, and could be set for another defeat here.
