Sheffield take on QPR in the Championship on Saturday.

Sheffield Wednesday take on QPR in the fifth round of games in the EFL Championship on Saturday. Both sides have won just once in four games, with only two points separating them in the standings.

Danny Rohl's Sheffield are coming off a 3-0 hiding at Millwall in their last outing. All three goals came in the second half as the Owls dropped their third straight league game to plunge to 20th in the points table.

However, despite their poor form in the league, Sheffield are through to the EFL Cup third round, form they would love to replicate in the Championship to climb up the standings.

Meanwhile, Marti Cifuentes' QPR are coming off a 2-1 win at Luton Town in their previous game. After Jimmy Dunne's first-half own goal, the Hoops scored twice at the right end to notch up their first win of their Championship campaign and climb up to 12th in the points table.

On that note, here's a look at the head-to-head and key numbers, match prediction, and betting tips for the Sheffield-QPR Championship clash at the Hillsborough Stadium.

  • Sheffield have won four of their last six games with the Hoops, including the last two. They're looking to win three in a row in the fixture for the first time in 43 years.
  • The Owls have won two of their last five home games, losing one.
  • QPR have three wins in their last five road outings, losing one.
  • Form guide (last five games across competitions, most recent result first): Sheffield: L-W-L-L-W; QPR: W-W-D-D-W

Sheffield Wednesday vs QPR prediction

Both teams haven't had the best of starts to the season, especially Sheffield, who started their campaign with a 4-0 win over Plymouth, only to lose their next three. It marks the first time in 23 years in the Championship that a side won their first game by at least four goals and lost their next three.

The Owls, though, have had QPR's number in recent meetings, but the Hoops haven't lost consecutive games at Sheffield since 2008. Moreover, QPR are in superior recent form, going unbeaten in five games across competitions, winning the last two.

Considering the same, we expect a scoring stalemate to ensue at the weekend.

Prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 QPR
