Russia and Thailand square off in a friendly on Saturday

Russia and Thailand go head-to-head in a friendly at the My Đình National Stadium on Saturday. Valeriy Karpin’s men head into the weekend on a four-game winning streak and will look to extend this impressive run.

Russia turned in another impressive team performance on Thursday as they cruised to a 3-0 victory over Vietnam at the My Đình National Stadium.

In a one-sided affair, Daler Kuzyaev and Tamerlan Musaev scored either side of a 61st-minute own goal from Vũ Văn Thanh to hand Karpin’s men a comfortable victory.

Russia have now won four straight matches, scoring 19 goals and keeping four clean sheets, and are unbeaten in their last seven games since November 2023.

Thailand, on the other hand, returned to winning ways on June 11 when they edged out Singapore 3-1 in the AFC World Cup qualifiers at the Rajamangala Stadium.

Before that, Masatada Ishii’s men were on a six-game winless run across all competitions, losing twice and claiming four draws since January. Thailand, who are currently 101st in the latest FIFA World Rankings, will now look to secure consecutive wins for the first time since September 2023.
