Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab are reportedly in contact with former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea over a potential move. The Spanish shot-stopper left Old Trafford in 2023 after a 12-year tenure.

De Gea, who hasn't joined any club since then was reportedly in talks with Genoa and Fiorentina, but both Serie A clubs didn't agree with him on personal terms. Having been a free agent for a year, he's in talks with the Saudi Pro League sides, who are his best chance of meeting his contract demands, as per Marca.

Al-Shabab and one unnamed rival are in talks with the Spaniard. De Gea is reportedly asking for a salary of £4.2-5 million, as per @BONSbetting on X.

De Gea started his senior career with Atlético Madrid in 2009, winning the 2009–10 UEFA Europa League and the 2010 UEFA Super Cup. The 33-year-old kept 23 clean sheets in 84 appearances.

De Gea maintained 190 clean sheets in 545 appearances across competitions for Manchester United. The Spaniard won the 2012–13 Premier League, the 2015–16 FA Cup, the 2016–17 and the 2022–23 EFL Cup, the 2011, 2013, and 2016 FA Community Shield and the 2016–17 UEFA Europa League.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly happy to return if Erik ten Hag and John Murtough leave

David de Gea has reportedly informed his inner circle that he would be willing to return to Old Trafford if manager Erik ten Hag and director John Murtough leave. The Dutch coach's contract with the Red Devils runs till 2026.

The Athletic reported De Gea saying that Ten Hag and former football director Murtough are responsible for his departure. He reportedly agreed to take a hit on his £375,000 per week wages to extend his Old Trafford stay. However, the Premier League club let him run down his contract before signing Andre Onana.

John Murtough parted ways with Manchester United in April following minority owners INEOS' purchase of a 27.7% stake in the club. He was replaced by former Newcastle United director Dan Ashworth.

Many of David de Gea's former club teammates expressed their displeasure with how the Red Devils dealt with the situation leading to the Spanish shot-stopper's departure.
