Real Madrid and Barcelona have reportedly identified England international Marc Guehi as a target for the summer. The Crystal Palace centre-back has enjoyed a solid Euro 2024 campaign, attracting interest from top clubs across Europe.

As per The Sun, both Real Madrid and Barcelona are monitoring the situation of the 23-year-old. However, Juventus, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also among the England defender's admirers.

Guehi has been one of the best players for England at Euro 2024 despite playing in a major tournament for the first time. Head coach Gareth Southgate has shown his trust in the Palace defender in the absence of Harry Maguire, and the youngster has responded admirably.

The 23-year-old has partnered John Stones at the heart of the English defence and has impressed with his all-round game. Southgate has a big decision to make ahead of Saturday's quarter-final against Switzerland, with Guehi suspended after picking up a second booking.

Having come up through the ranks of Chelsea, Guehi managed only two senior appearances for the Blues. After a solid loan spell with Swansea, he joined Crystal Palace in 2021 for a reported fee of £18 million.

The defender has grown from strength to strength at Selhurst Park and looks ready for the next step. Guehi's deal at Palace expires in 2026, but the Eagles are thought to be happy to sell him for £50 million.

Madrid are looking for a long-term replacement for Nacho who left on a free transfer to join Saudi Arabian side Al Qadsiah. Barca, meanwhile, are also looking to shore up their backline following a disappointing season.

Barcelona star Ilkay Gundogan hails Real Madrid's mentality

Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has lauded rivals Los Blancos for their winning mentality. Los Blancos won a record-extending 36th La Liga and 15th Champions League last season while Gundogan's side finished trophyless.

While discussing Madrid's success, the Barca and Germany star said (via Madrid Xtra):

"If you look at Real Madrid, the most successful club of the last decade or even longer, the way they never panicked and always kept their cool is remarkable."

Barcelona won La Liga in 2023, their first league title in four years. However, they were trumped quite comfortably by Real Madrid in La Liga last season, finishing 10 points clear.
