Manchester United are reportedly keen to bolster the depth at full-back. That's considering that Tyrell Malacia is not in their pre-season tour to the US, leaving Aaron Wan-Bissaka as their only senior full-back.

Malacia - who has been injured for over a year - is still some way from attaining full fitness. Meanwhile, two other senior full-backs - Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot - are not in the pre-season tour squad because of their respective involvement at Euro 2024.

It's pertinent to note that Wan-Bissaka is out of contract next summer, and the full-back looks likely on his way out. As per Telegraph, West Ham United, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are interested in his services. The report also mentions United's interest in Bayern Munich's Noussair Mazraoui, Crystal Palace's Tyrick Mitchell and Feyenoord's David Hancko.

Full-back was a problem area for the club last season - with Malacia missing the entire campaign due to injury, while Shaw only returned to competitive action after five months while on England duty at Euro 2024. The Three Lions lost 2-1 to Spain in the Berlin final.

Manchester United had a largely unimpressive 2023-24 season, finishing eighth, their worst finish in the Premier League era. However, their FA Cup final win over Manchester City confirmed their place in next season's UEFA Europa League.

The Red Devils faltered in the UEFA Champions League, finishing fourth in a group containing Bayern Munich, FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray. Moreover, their title defence in the EFL Cup ended before the quarter-final.

Their league travails were the most glaring, especially after finishing third in the previous campaign, conceding aa whopping 58 times across 36 games. With 60 points, they narrowly avoided their lowest-ever Premier League points tally, but they did register their worst-ever EPL goals scored (57) tally.

United's 14 losses were two more than their previous record number of defeats in a league season.
