Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City are reportedly monitoring Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida. The 24-year-old right-back came up through the ranks at the Eredivsie side.

In 201 appearances across competitions, he has contributed 24 goals and 11 assists. That includes nine goals and five assists in 47 outings across competitions in a breakout 2023-24 campaign as Feyenoord finished second in the Eredivisie and won the KNVB Cup.

Despite being contracted to the Stadium Club till 2025, there has been no dearth of interest in his services. As per HTC (via Givemesport), the Reds, City and Aston Villa are interested in Geertruida.

The right-back was widely reported to follow his former boss Arne Slot to Anfield, but that hasn't happened yet. Instead, as per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano (via Givemesport), Villa have emerged as one of his prospective suitors.

However, Villa's interest in his services is dependent on the potential exit of Diego Carlos, who has attracted interest from many clubs. Meanwhile, the Reds could also make a move for him, having not made a signing this transfer window, making them the only Premier League club in this regard.

Both Liverpool and Manchester City have made winning starts to the season. The Reds - under new boss Arne Slot - opened the campaign with a 2-0 win at newly promoted Ipswich Town.

The Reds broke the deadlock through Diogo Jota at the hour mark before Mohamed Salah scored for the seventh time in eight Premier League opening-day fixtures to confirm the win.

The loss was Ipswich's first at Portman Road in nearly a year, having become only the fifth English side to earn back-to-back promotions to qualify for the Premier League for the first time after 22 years.

Liverpool next take on Brentford at home on Sunday (August 25), having won this fixture 3-0 at home in November, with Salah bagging a brace and Jota also getting on the scoresheet. The reverse fixture saw the Reds win again, 4-1, with Salah one of three different scorers.

Meanwhile, Manchester City continued their perfect start to the season, following their FA Community Shield win (on penalties) over Manchester United with a 2-0 win at Chelsea in their Premier League opener.

Erling Haaland and former Blues man Mateo Kovacic were the scorers for Pep Guardiola's side, who are looking to win an unprecedented fifth straight league title.
