Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca looks on.

Chelsea forward David Datro Fofana is reportedly set to leave shortly. The 21-year-old has made just four appearances across competitions for the Blues, making no goal contributions.

Fofana spent the last season on loan, the first half at Union Berlin and the second half at Burnley. Across both loan spells, the Cote d'Ivoire man scored six times and provided two assists in 32 games across competitions.

However, despite his Stamford Bridge contract running till 2029, Fofana is seemingly surplus to requirements and could be permanently offloaded. As per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Fofana could be off to Turkey, Greece, Portugal, Saudi Arabia or the Netherlands, as those transfer windows are still open.

It's pertinent to note that Sunderland and Hoffenheim were in the fray to snap up the attacker, but talks collapsed on deadline day (Friday).

On the field, the Blues have had a mixed start to life under new boss Enzo Maresca. They commenced their Premier League campaign with a 2-0 home loss to four-time defending champions Manchester City but beat Servette by the same score in the UEFA Europa Conference League play-off first leg at home.

They then won 6-2 at West Ham United in the league before losing 2-1 at Servette but still qualified for the finals with a 3-2 aggregate win. The Blues next take on Crystal Palace at home in the league on Sunday.

Chelsea attacker Raheem Sterling has joined Arsenal on loan. The Englishman had had an underwhelming stint at Stamford since arriving from Manchester City in the summer of 2022.

In 81 games across competitions, he bagged 19 goals and 12 assists. Despite having three more years in his deal, the attacker was told this summer by Maresca that he won't be considered for selection.

Facing the prospect of warming the bench, Sterling was spared that ignominy, as the Gunners signed him on a season-long loan deal. The Euro 2020 finalist was elated to make the move, saying (as per BBC):

"It's an unbelievable feeling. It's really exciting. It (the move) is one where we kind of left it late, but it's one I was hoping for. Looking at everything, I'm just, like, 'this is a perfect fit for me', and I'm super happy that we got it over the line."

It's known if the former Liverpool man will make his Gunners debut on Saturday in the Premier League against Brighton & Hove Albion.
