Bayern Munich director provides update on Matthijs de Ligt's future amid Manchester United transfer links.

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has responded to reports linking centre-back Matthijs de Ligt with a move to Manchester United this summer. United have been busy reinforcing their defence as they eye the Bayern duo of De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

De Ligt has reportedly agreed personal terms with United, as he's keen to reunite with manager Erik ten Hag, having played for him at Ajax. Ten Hag is also interested in bringing the 24-year-old to Old Trafford, as he admitted wanting to sign him when he arrived at United in 2022.

Amidst the rising speculation about De Ligt’s future at the Allianz Arena, sporting director Max Eberl told Sky Sports Germany (via GOAL)

"I will comment on it (the reasons for the upcoming move to Manchester United) when the time comes. It is not the time yet.
"Matthijs has played very well here for two years, and that’s why many fans like him. Nevertheless, you have to think about how you make decisions and also how the boy feels. He is still a player of FC Bayern. And as long as he is, he will get all our support.

Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt is "back to work" amidst Manchester United links

Amidst reports of his potential move to Manchester United, Matthijs de Ligt has joined Bayern Munich on their preseason tour.

Even though he has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Red Devils, they are yet to agree a transfer fee with Bayern. Amidst his uncertain future at the Allianz Arena, the 24-year-old posted on Instagram:

"Back to work (bicep and praying hands emoji) @fcbayern"

Matthijs de Ligt is yet to feature in Bayern's preseason tour following his deep run with the Netherlands at Euro 2024.

Bayern Munich have been impressive in preseason, winning two of three games. They play Tottenham Hotspur and WSG Tirol before taking on SSV Ulm 1846 in the DFB-Pokal first round on August 16.
