Barcelona are reportedly set to receive over €300,000 from FIFA as compensation for Spanish midfielder Pedri's injury during Euro 2024. FIFA are supposed to pay the club as a part of the organisation's Club Protection Programme, sa Pedri was injured while on international duty with Spain.

The Spaniard picked up an internal lateral sprain in his left knee during Spain's quarter-final clash with Germany on July 5 following a tackle by Toni Kroos. He has been out for 28 days since his injury, which means FIFA's Club Protection Programme is obligated to pay Barcelona the compensation fee. As per Mundo Deportivo, the exact reported compesation amount is €308,200.

The deadline of 28 days ended on August 2 for Pedri, while the midfielder received the medical green light to return to the pitch on August 17. The Spaniard missed the entire pre-season under new coach Hansi Flick.

However, Pedri has been included in the squad list for Barcelona's opening La Liga clash against Valencia on Saturday (August 17). It remains to be seen whether Flick includes him in the starting line-up, but the midfielder is expected to play some part in the game.

Ahead of Barcelona's La Liga opener with Valencia on Saturday (August 17), coach Hansi Flick shared the status of key players and their availability for the game.

Speaking of Pedri, who just recovered from his left-knee injury, the German coach mentioned that he could be available to play some part.

“Pedri is a special player, and he changes the team by himself. Perhaps he will be an option for the second half, and I’m sure he can help us a lot.” Flick said. (via Barca Blaugranes)

The coach also confirmed that new signing Dani Olmo will not be available to face Valencia. After a sensational performance for Spain at Euro 2024, Olmo joined the Blaugrana from RB Leipzig on a reported €60 million deal for six years.

The Spaniard is reportedly yet to be registered in La Liga, so he was not named in the squad to face Valencia. Flick also mentioned that it has only been a few days since he began training and would require more preparation.

“We now have 22-23 players and we’ll see tomorrow. Now they are all in the team and are an option to play tomorrow.
"Dani Olmo is not yet an option for tomorrow, because he arrived recently and has few training sessions. First he has to train to be able to help us.” he added.

Flick also confirmed that 17-year-old winger Lamine Yamal will be available to play, despite the recent crisis regarding his father being stabbed in a parking lot.
