Real Madrid are reportedly set to agree on a free transfer with Alphonso Davies in January. The Bayern Munich left-back will move to the Santiago Bernabeu next summer though.

Real Madrid were heavily linked with a move for Davies this summer but a move never materialized. His contract with Bayern Munich expires next summer and he will be open to agreeing on a free transfer with a foreign club in January. The Bavarians tried to convince him to sign a new contract as sporting director Max Eberl said in 2023 (via Sport Bible):

"The negotiations have been going on for some time, but then stalled last summer. We are dealing with the issue. I can say: We made Alphonso a very concrete, appreciative offer. At some point in life you have to say yes or no."

It would appear that Davies will not be signing a new contract with Bayern. As per Diario AS (via Sport Bible), he is close to agreeing on a pre-contract with Real Madrid for a free transfer next summer.

Los Blancos currently have Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia as their two left-backs, with the former being the first choice. If Davies arrives, Garcia could be allowed to leave, with his contract expiring in 2027.

Davies, meanwhile, joined Bayern from Canadian side Vancouver Whitecaps in 2019 and has contributed 11 goals and 31 assists in 197 games.

Carlo Ancelotti shares his thought on Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo's absence from Ballon d'Or shortlist

Rodrygo Goes was omitted from the list of the 30 men nominated for the 2024 Ballon d'Or. He scored 17 goals and provided nine assists in 51 games across competitions for Real Madrid last season. He won three trophies with them - Supercopa de Espana, La Liga, and the UEFA Champions League.

Rodrygo and many other fans and pundits have shared their shock at the winger's absence from the list. Manager Carlo Ancelotti has also shared his thoughts on it now, saying (via Managing Madrid):

“In the nominations for the Ballon d’Or he has not been valued. He deserved to be in the 30 without any doubt. I understand that he is upset.
"Someone has forgotten what he has done in the Champions League, scoring against City and being important. It is a virtue that he is a wildcard, that he can play in many positions and always well.”

Rodrygo has started this season well, registering one goal and one assist in five games across competitions. He will next in action when Real Madrid take on Real Sociedad away in La Liga on Saturday, September 14.
