European champions Real Madrid have changed their transfer plans following the decision of defender Leny Yoro to join Manchester United. The Spanish outfit missed out on the French youngster after he decided to align with his club's wishes to join the Premier League outfit.

Teenage French defender Yoro emerged as one of the finest talents in France's top flight in the 2023-24 season with boyhood club Lille. The 18-year-old quickly came into the view of many of Europe's biggest teams, including French champions Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Liverpool.

Yoro had a verbal agreement on personal terms with the Spanish giants but has now traveled to Manchester for a medical with Manchester United. The Red Devils managed to meet his valuation with Lille and will now likely sign him for potentially €70 million.

Relevo reports that Real Madrid will take no steps to sign Yoro or any other central defenders in this window despite multiple links. Los Blancos have lost a central defender this summer in Rafa Marin but Carlo Ancelotti's side are not prioritizing the signing of another centre-back.

Real Madrid jumped to the front of the queue of teams looking to sign Yoro as the end of the 2023-24 season approached, and the teenager was swayed by their approach. He was at the UEFA Champions League final in June, watching at Wembley as Los Blancos claimed a record-extending 15th title.

Real intended to pay between €20-25 million to sign the France U-21 international, but the French club were unwilling to let him go for cheap. Despite his contract expiring in 2025, Lille have managed to sell him to Manchester United on their terms.

Yoro will become the second Manchester United signing this summer after Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee earlier joined from Bologna.

Real Madrid legend extends contract until 2025

Real Madrid legend Luka Modric has extended his contract with the Spanish giants until the end of the 2024-25 season. The Croatian midfielder will remain at the Santiago Bernabeu after reaching an agreement with the club.

Modric saw his contract with Los Blancos expire after the 2023-24 season as he became the club's most decorated player ever alongside Dani Carvajal. The 38-year-old has played 534 times for the Spanish giants in his career and has won 26 titles at the club.

Real Madrid have offered the midfielder, who is their oldest-ever outfielder in La Liga history, a contract until 2025. He will now feature in his 13th season at the club, having joined them from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012.

The Croatian played 46 times across competitions for the European champions in the 2023-24 season, scoring two goals and providing eight assists in the process.
