Real Madrid have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their derby with Atletico Madrid. Eduardo Camavinga has passed the fitness test and is set to be added to the matchday squad.

As per a report in MARCA, Camavinga has given Carlo Ancelotti a boost ahead of the derby this Sunday. The Frenchman has been ruled out since August and has yet to appear in the league this season.

The news comes just hours after Mundo Deportivo reported that the midfielder's availability will be determined on Saturday. He had suffered a knee injury in August before the UEFA Super Cup clash with Atalanta.

Ancelotti spoke about the Frenchman earlier this week.

"The plan with Camavinga is for him to train with the team from Thursday," Ancelotti said (h/t realmadrid.com). "We will rest after tomorrow's game, then he will train on Thursday and will be available."

Speaking about injuries around the world to top players, he added:

"It makes me really sad when big players get injured. It happened yesterday to Ter Stegen, one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Hopefully, he will be back to full fitness as quickly as possible. We can't do a lot of things at the moment because the schedule is already set for this season, but the world of football has to do some thinking."

Real Madrid are without Kylian Mbappe for the Madrid derby this weekend as the striker is out for three weeks.

Will Endrick get a chance for Real Madrid against Atletico Madrid?

Carlo Ancelotti said that Endrick knows his role at Real Madrid and will get a chance when they arrive. He added that the forward knows the players ahead of him and said:

"His role is clear, but it's not 100% defined either. In the few minutes he's played, he's been on the right wing. He plays well there because he works hard and is motivated. To me, he's a centre forward, but he can sometimes play on the wing. He's not a winger, but he can play very well on the inside and he can make the most of his minutes out wide."

He added:

"I talk to every player, but Endrick understands about being patient. He trains every day with the best forwards in the world and he understands what his role is. He's earning positions because he's very professional, and very mature despite his young age, and we're delighted with him. He'll get his minutes when the team needs him. The derby was good for Milan fans, who won it again."

Real Madrid are four points behind Barcelona in the league this season after seven matches. They are unbeaten but have dropped points in two games, while the Catalan side has won all.
