Real Madrid eyeing 6'5" Serie A defender as alternative if they fail to sign Leny Yoro: Reports

Real Madrid are clear favorites to sign Lille defender Leny Yoro, but they have an alternative in 6'5" Serie A defender Yann Bisseck. In the event that they are unable to sign the 18-year-old French defender, they will make their move for Bisseck, who plays for Inter Milan.

Los Blancos have let Nacho Fernandez leave for the Saudi Pro League after serving the club for an impressive 23 years and winning 26 trophies. They also had injury concerns with their defenders, with players like Eder Militao and David Alaba suffering cruciate ligament tears.

This has seen them turn towards the transfer market for new additions in the backline to bolster their squad ahead of the next season. Their priority, according to numerous reports, has been Leny Yoro, but Sport Bild has revealed (via Hard Tackle) that they are watching Bisseck as an alternative.

The 23-year-old center-back was a quality player for Inter Milan as they won the Serie A title. He helped their cause with 16 league games, where he scored two goals and provided an assist, without picking up a single booking. However, if Leny Yoro is signed by Real Madrid, Bisseck will not move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Real Madrid to win race for German talent in 2025 transfer window

Real Madrid are already making plans for the 2025 transfer window, and according to Spanish outlet AS (via TeamTalk), they are set to win the race for Florian Wirtz. The 21-year-old German talent has been one of the best players in the Bundesliga, helping Bayer Leverkusen win the domestic double unbeaten last season. He was also vital in their run to the Europa League final.

The attacking playmaker racked up a combined total of 18 goals and 20 assists in 48 appearances in all competitions, impressing under manager Xabi Alonso. At Bayer Leverkusen, he is reportedly seen as untouchable and will not be sold for less than €150 million.

Real Madrid may not be particularly interested in spending so much on a player, as it would remarkably cross the €120 million club record they spent on Eden Hazard. However, the reports claim that they "believe that they will secure the services of the German pearl" in 2025.

Signing Wirtz after winning their 15th UEFA Champions League trophy could cement the Spanish giants' position as the biggest club in Europe. In the meantime, though, they will focus on more urgent moves in the transfer market, which they will be hoping to close this summer after signing Kylian Mbappe.
