Real Madrid have reportedly agreed to extend left-back Ferland Mendy's contract at the club till the summer of 2027. The French defender only has a year left on his current agreement, which led to speculation over his future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, a report from MARCA seems to hint that Los Blancos are nearing an agreement with Mendy to extend his deal (via Managing Madrid). This is huge news, given the Spanish giants were also linked with a move for Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies this summer.

Although the Canada international was strongly rumored to join Real Madrid, MARCA themselves have reported that this deal may not go through. As a result, it seems less surprising that Carlo Ancelotti and Co. have tied down Mendy for a further two years.

The major concern around the 29-year-old was regarding his fitness. Last season he missed six matches across competitions due to injury and was absent for 23 games in the 2022/23 campaign due to fitness-related problems.

However, it seems as though Los Blancos have taken a gamble on this element of Mendy's career. He is an experienced player, who is likely to be the first choice in his position when available.

To date, Mendy has made 170 appearances across competitions for his current employers, bagging six goals and 10 assists. He's won two UEFA Champions League trophies and three La Liga titles, among other honors with Real Madrid.

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer. This is according to Independent, who claim that the player himself is keen on a move away from Anfield with a year left on his deal (via Football Espana).

For the La Liga outfit, this is a key area they need to strengthen given the long-term servant in the position Dani Carvajal is 32 years old. Moreover, the Spain international also has a year left on his contract and may choose to move on at the end of it.

Alexander-Arnold is a talented right-back, who possesses an incredible range of passing that is often on display in the Premier League. With Jude Bellingham, who is one of the Liverpool star's closest friends in football already with Real Madrid, it could play a role in motivating the defender to finalize a deal.
