Brentford striker Ivan Toney reportedly wants more wages than Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes if the Red Devils want to secure his signature. The 28-year-old has been a player in demand in recent months and has been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
As reported by Express Sport, United are eyeing a move for the England international this summer. However, they would only make a move for Toney if his asking price is reduced to £40 million or less.
Brentford find themselves in a tight corner with Toney entering the final year of his deal. The striker clearly has no intention of signing a new deal and the Red Devils believe that the Bees could be persuaded to sell him on a bargain.
However, Toney is understood to be willing to stay at the Gtech Community Stadium for another season and leave on a free transfer. He reportedly believes that there will be more suitors for his services if he were to become a free agent.
Toney earns just £20,000 per week at Brentford and is understood to be looking for a lucrative package. He is reportedly looking for at least £250,000 per week which will make him one of the highest earners at Old Trafford.
As per Express Sport, only Casemiro and Marcus Rashford earn more than £250,000 a week at Manchester United right now. Jadon Sancho and Mason Mount earn £250,000 a week while captain Bruno Fernandes is on a £240,000-per-week deal.
Ivan Toney's stock remains high despite the player missing a major chunk of the last season due to suspension for gambling. He has been a reliable goalscorer for Brentford scoring 72 goals in 141 games while also producing 23 assists.

Former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has insisted that the club are on the right track after winning the FA Cup last season. The former Mexico international also claimed that the Red Devils' FA Cup success silenced their critics.
