Premier League outfit Crystal Palace are interested in signing Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah this summer as a possible replacement for Marc Guehi. The Blues value Chalobah at £25 million and are open for the transfer, according to Daily Telegraph Correspondent Matt Law.

Chalobah has represented Chelsea since 2007, ascending through the youth academy before making his senior debut for the club in August 2021. The 25-year-old helped the Blues win the UEFA Super Cup during his debut, before penning a new deal until 2026 three months later.

The former England U21 international has made 80 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals. However, his 2023-24 campaign under Mauricio Pochettino was hampered due to a thigh injury, resulting in him making just 17 appearances in total.

The Blues bolstered their defense this summer, signing Tosin Adarabioyo as their new centre-back. Unfortunately, Enzo Maresca opted to exclude Chalobah from their pre-season tour to the United States. The latter is currently training with the club's U21s and doesn't appear to have a future at Stamford Bridge anymore.

While Chelsea have yet to receive any concrete offers for Chalobah, Crystal Palace are reportedly in the mix to do just that. Newcastle United are allegedly interested in signing Marc Guehi, which could result in the Eagles replacing him with Chalobah for £25 million.

Chelsea's pre-season struggles continue following 2-1 loss to Real Madrid

Enzo Maresca's shaky start as Chelsea manager continued as they lost 2-1 against Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly in the United States on Tuesday, August 6. They have now won just one out of their five friendlies this summer, drawing one, and losing the other three.

Maresca deployed a relatively strong starting XI with Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Raheem Sterling, and Enzo Fernandez making the cut. However, Los Blancos had a dominant start to the game, taking a 2-0 lead following goals from Lucas Vasquez (19') and Brahim Diaz (27'). Noni Madueke halved the deficit in the 39th minute but the Blues were unable to produce a comeback in the second half.

This was Chelsea's third loss this summer, having lost 4-1 to Celtic and 4-2 against Manchester City. They also drew 2-2 against Wrexham, and have only defeated Club America 3-0 so far.

They will be aiming to end their pre-season on a positive note when they face Serie A club Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 11.
