Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are reportedly highly interested in signing Joshua Kimmich, who's also been on Liverpool and Barcelona's radars. The German was also linked with the French club this summer but ended up staying at Bayern Munich.
Kimmich's contract with Bayern is set to expire this summer. He would be open to agreeing on a pre-contract with foreign clubs in January for a potential free transfer next summer. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Bavarians will look to offer the German a new contract.
However, he also said that PSG are highly interested in Kimmich and could make a move next summer. Romano said on Caught Offside:
“We heard a lot of rumours over the summer about Premier League clubs and others around Europe, but the reality is that the most concrete interest came from PSG. They ended up signing Joao Neves, and he was their top target in midfield, but they also considered internally if they could also sign Kimmich to play together in midfield with Neves.
“PSG’s priority was Neves, but it wasn’t a case of signing one or the other, Kimmich was also a possibility to play with him. In the end, though, nothing happened as PSG decided to focus on other priorities, while Kimmich was also happy to stay with Bayern."
As per Liverpool Echo, Liverpool and Barcelona were also interested in signing Kimmich in the summer. The German midfielder, who can also play as a right-back, has registered almost 400 appearances for Bayern, contributing 42 goals and 106 assists.
Thiago Alcantara on his brief coaching stint at Barcelona after leaving Liverpool
Thiago Alcantara announced his retirement from professional football earlier this summer after leaving Liverpool as a free agent. He joined Barcelona's new manager Hansi Flick's coaching team but left after just over a month.
In a recent interview, Thiago delved into his decision to move into coaching, saying:
"Well, at the end I had the chance to get into football again, helping the coaching staff of Barcelona. I decided for the practical part, not for the theory – just because of the experience I had doing all these years in football and the kind of role I had in the team.
"I just want to pass it through to other players. I love to help new players as well, young players to develop under the coach. It was pretty good spirits."
Thiago made around 100 appearances each for Liverpool and Barcelona and is currently looking for his next stint.
