Joshua Zirkzee won't be present for Manchester United's pre-season tour.

Joshua Zirkzee is one of six Manchester United stars who will sit out the club's pre-season tour of the United States. The Dutch forward joined the Red Devils from Bologna earlier this summer for a reported £36.5 million.

Fans will have to wait to see Zirkzee in action for Erik ten Hag's side as he won't be traveling to the United States, per The Daily Mail's Chris Wheeler. The 23-year-old has been on holiday since representing the Netherlands at Euro 2024.

Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Alejandro Garnacho, and Facundo Pellistri will also miss the trip. They were in action for their nations at Euro 2024 and Copa America.

Manchester United start their pre-season tour of the United States with a clash against Arsenal on Sunday (July 28) at SoFi Stadium in California. They also have friendlies against Real Betis (August 1) and Liverpool (August 4).

The signs point towards Zirkzee debuting in the Community Shield at Wembley on August 10. Ten Hag's men face Premier League champions Manchester City after their FA Cup triumph last season.

Zirkzee is one of two new signings made by United so far this summer. Highly rated French teenage defender Leny Yoro, 18, arrived from LOSC Lille for £52 million. He's part of the squad that travels to the United States and made his non-competitive debut in a 2-0 win against Rangers.

Manchester United reportedly eyeing Ivan Toney despite Zirkzee's arrival

Manchester United look set to continue bolstering their attack this summer despite Zirkzee joining Ten Hag's side. He'll provide competition to Rasmus Hojlund while also offering versatility in various other attacking positions.

GiveMeSport reports that the Red Devils are considering swooping for Brentford striker Ivan Toney despite Zirkzee's arrival. He has a year left on his contract and isn't expected to sign an extension.

Toney, 28, has been the Bees' protagonist for several years and has impressed since their promotion to the Premier League in 2021. He posted 20 goals in 33 league games in the 2022-23 campaign, finishing third in the Golden Boot race.

Manchester United are prepared to move for Toney if they can seal a deal below £40 million. He could be a fine, experienced addition to Ten Hag's frontline, and he has a proven goalscoring resume in the Premier League.

The Red Devils struggled in front of goal last season, lacking firepower. Toney is one of English football's most potent goalscorers, and he's broken into the England national team.
