Manchester United set to refuse approach from European rivals for superstar duo, Erik ten Hag unwilling to part ways with players: Reports

Erik ten Hag
Erik ten Hag's side finished eighth in the Premier League table last season.

Manchester United are allegedly not going to listen to Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) advances for captain Bruno Fernandes and forward Marcus Rashford ahead of the start of the 2024-25 season.

Fernandes, 29, has cemented himself as one of the stars in the Red Devils' locker room since arriving from Sporting CP in the winter of 2020. He started 47 of his 48 appearances across competitions last season, registering 15 goals and 13 assists in the process.

Rashford, on the other hand, has been a fan favorite since making his professional debut for Manchester United in 2016. The 26-year-old attacker, however, struggled to replicate his best form last season and registered eight goals and five assists in 43 overall games.

Now, according to Give Me Sport, Manchester United will not sanction Fernandes' and Rashford's departures even if a sizeable bid is tabled this summer. Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag is aware that he would be without key attackers should they sell the pair soon.

Meanwhile, neither Fernandes nor Rashford has requested to depart United before the start of the next season. Moreover, despite PSG's interest in the aforesaid pair, they have lately put a stop to their pursuit.

Fernandes and Rashford have made 192 appearances together at their team and have a joint goal participation of 20 in four-and-a-half years.

The Red Devils will face Arsenal in their pre-season friendly clash at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, United States this Saturday (July 27).

Fabrizio Romano congratulates Manchester United for finalizing Leny Yoro's recent deal

During a chat on Caught Offside's The Debrief Podcast, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano was asked if Leny Yoro's move to Manchester United came as a surprise. He replied:

"Honestly, yes. Not in the final days, because when Manchester United were able to agree the fee with Lille, I understood that they were really entering strong in the race and with a good chance to make it happen. Maybe a 30%-35%, but still a good chance."

Sharing further thoughts on the transfer saga, Romano concluded:

"But before that, if you asked me in June, in May or in April, the answer was absolutely Real Madrid. And I think if you asked Leny Yoro in that moment of the year, it was Real Madrid, absolutely. He wanted to go to Real Madrid, he agreed everything perfectly with Real Madrid, his project at Real Madrid was ready."

Last week, the Red Devils signed Yoro in a potential £59 million deal.

The 18-year-old centre-back helped LOSC Lille record 20 clean sheets in 44 total matches and found the back of the net thrice last campaign.
