Manchester United have reportedly joined Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of Archie Gray. The Leeds United starlet is among English football's most coveted young talents.

TEAMTalk reports that the Red Devils have discussed Gray, 18, who excelled for Leeds last season. The two-cap England U21 international made 52 appearances across competitions, providing versatility in midfield and at right-back.

Manchester United could struggle to persuade Gray to move to Old Trafford, given he's Leeds born and bred. He's happy and proud to fulfill his dream at Elland Road but could consider moving abroad.

Chelsea have shown strong interest in the Peacocks' academy graduate, who has four years left on his contract. They could swoop for him later in the summer transfer window as they target Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Former City goalkeeper David James tipped Gray to become a future superstar for England amid speculation over his future. He alluded to his versatility (via Yorkshire Evening Post):

"He's been fantastic for Leeds this season and hopefully for him, his future is in a senior England squad playing in one of many different positions."

Erik ten Hag could majorly benefit from a signing of Gray's ilk, given he can play at right-back and in various midfield positions. Manchester United endured a defensive injury curse last season and were short of options.

Fabrizio Romano: Borussia Dortmund will be competition for Manchester United and Chelsea in Archie Gray race

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano gave an insight into Gray's situation at the clubs looking to swoop for the exciting Leeds teenager. The Italian journalist claims Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are tracking him (via Romano's YouTube channel):

"For Archie Gray, I can tell you that Chelsea have been scouting the player, for sure he is a player they appreciate but also, Borussia Dortmund is the same... At the moment, no bid, just interest and we will see what clubs like Manchester United and others do in this situation because many other clubs are scouting the player."

Dortmund could be difficult competition for Chelsea and Manchester United to deal with. BvB beat the Red Devils to Jude Bellingham's signature in July 2020 and is renowned for developing young talent into world-beaters such as Erling Haaland.

Bellingham's growth at Signal Iduna Park is reportedly being taken into account by those close to Gray, per TEAMTalk. He'll be eyeing a similar meteoric rise as the England international who has become one of Real Madrid's biggest stars.
