Manchester United have reportedly set their sights on former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel. The Red Devils are yet to make a decision on Erik ten Hag but see the German manager as the ideal replacement.

As per a report in iNews, Tuchel is back on the wishlist at Manchester United and they are planning to hold talks with the manager. The Red Devils spoke to the manager after his exit from Bayern Munich but could not come to an agreement.

Ten Hag has confirmed that the Red Devils were evaluating their options in the summer. Back in June, he told NOS:

"The new club management of Manchester United has also done this. They took extensive time to evaluate everything. They also told me that they have spoken to Thomas Tuchel. It is no secret to me that they have spoken to several trainers. In the Netherlands that is not done, it is not allowed at all if you still have a sitting trainer.
"In England the rules are a bit different, but in the end they came to the conclusion that they already had the best trainer. They came to Ibiza with that message."

The Dutchman is under pressure at Manchester United following a poor start to the season. The Red Devils have two wins in six Premier League matches and the Aston Villa clash on Sunday (October 6) could be his last game in charge of the Old Trafford side.

Laura Woods urges Manchester United to appoint former Chelsea manager

English presenter Laura Woods has urged Manchester United to appoint Thomas Tuchel as their next manager. She believes that Erik ten Hag has run out of ideas at the club and the former Chelsea manager would be the ideal replacement.

She told Bet MGM:

"I don’t like calling for a manager’s head as we really don’t know what is going on behind the scenes at Old Trafford but, if they did decide to move on from ten Hag, then get Thomas Tuchel back in the Premier League! It’s been too long. I love him as a coach and a character and I think he’d be perfect for Man United.
"He’s a bit of a maverick and, although his appointment might not last more than a couple of seasons, I bet he’d get them closer to winning something than they currently are.”

She added:

“I’m finally at the point where I don’t think Erik ten Hag has many more cards to play. That loss to Spurs was tough to watch – they were so far inferior to the opposition. The Man United pre-season optimism has well and truly drained. This has been a truly terrible start and, as the saying goes, ‘This is Manchester United Football Club’. It’s not just the results, it’s been the performances too.”

Apart from the former Chelsea manager, the Red Devils also have been linked with Gareth Southgate and Graham Potter.
