Manchester United and Chelsea are eyeing a loan move for Ivan Toney. The two clubs are unwilling to meet the £60 million asking price set by Brentford.

As per a report in The Independent, United and Chelsea bosses, Erik ten Hag and Enzo Maresca, respectively, are keen on adding a striker to their squad before the window shuts. They have set sights on Toney once again.

However, both sides are not willing to match the £60 million asking price and want to sign the striker on loan for the season. They are willing to add an obligation to the deal – a similar deal which saw David Raya move to Arsenal last summer.

The 28-year-old has the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United also interested in signing him this summer.

Chelsea urged not to sign Manchester United target by Pat Nevin

Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin was talking to OLBG earlier this summer when he claimed that the Blues should not sign Victor Osimhen or Ivan Toney. He believes Chelsea should be targeting a much younger striker with potential.

He named Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson as the ideal pick and said:

"The future of Ivan Toney has opened up and that could be explored, but that doesn't mean it's the right option. He will score goals and he has a cleverness about him, but he's not what Chelsea generally look at. If they go with usual thinking it could be Victor Osimhen or Toney, but if I was Evan Ferguson at Brighton I would be looking at Chels at the moment."
"He's going to reach his potential by being in a team in which he gets lots of chances and Chelsea are now getting better in being faster in their build-ups. I don't think teams are ignoring him even though he's not scoring as many goals, but no strikers score millions of goals at the start, look at Harry Kane and his early numbers, it takes time. But if you're a striker, you want one thing over and above everything else and that's getting four or five chances a game," Nevin added.

Manchester United have also been linked with a move for Evan Ferguson this summer. However, no club are yet to launch a bid as Brighton are reportedly looking for over £100 million.
