Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly identified Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson as a potential replacement for Gianluigi Donnarumma. PSG are unhappy with the Italian's performances and believe the Brazilian is the ideal replacement for him at the club.

According to Fichajes, former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is assessing his options after Donnarumma's performances have dipped this season. The Italian goalkeeper has been with PSG since joining them on a free transfer from AC Milan in 2021.

The 25-year-old was tipped to be one of Europe's best goalkeepers but his progress has stalled in recent months. Donnarumma's performance against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League, in particular, was questioned by critics after he conceded two goals at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal won 2-0.

PSG have only kept one clean sheet in seven matches in the league as well. Although Manchester City have just kept four clean sheets across all competitions this season, Ederson has emerged as an option for Luis Enrique's side.

Pep Guardiola reveals the reason why Ederson stayed at Manchester City in the summer

Ederson's contract with Manchester City will run out in the summer of 2026 and speculation has been rife about his future. The 31-year-old was on the verge of leaving the Premier League champions in the summer when Saudi Pro League sides Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad were vying for his signature.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admitted that his goalkeeper could have left the club in the summer window. The City manager revealed that the Brazilian stayed in England because no club managed to offer what the club wanted for their goalkeeper.

ESPN reported Guardiola saying that he didn't want his goalkeeper to leave and that he was glad the Saudi sides didn't match their asking price.

"He [Ederson] knew from day one I didn't want it, we didn't want it but the truth, I'm going to tell the truth, the offer didn't come," Guardiola said.

The former Barcelona manager highlighted the importance of the goalkeeper to his side and laid down the marker regarding his prized Brazilian's future.

"The real offer, because they make an offer, but to be for the keeper, for the team who won four Premier Leagues in a row, they have a value, you know, have a price. Otherwise, he cannot leave. This is the truth," he added.

Ederson joined Manchester City from Benfica in 2017 and has been the club's first-choice goalkeeper as they won six Premier League titles in seven seasons. He also won three Golden Glove awards in a row between 2020 and 2022.
