Liverpool willing to sell £50 million-rated superstar this summer: Reports

Arne Slot
Arne Slot's side are yet to sign a new player this summer.

Liverpool are reportedly prepared to cash in on Colombia international Luis Diaz to raise some funds in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Diaz, 27, has cemented himself as a key starter for the Reds since departing Porto in a potential £50 million deal in January 2022. He has helped the Merseyside club lift four trophies, including a FA Cup crown.

Now, according to Football Insider, Liverpool have identified the Junior FC academy product as a potential sale this summer. They are ready to sell the right-footed star, who was linked with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in the past, for a sum in the region of £50 million.

The Reds, who are yet to sign a new player this summer, could reinvest the money from Diaz's sale to sign a left-sided attacker this summer. They were heavily linked with Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon earlier this summer and are still aiming to snap the forward up.

So far, Diaz has started 75 of his 98 appearances across competitions for his club. He has found the back of the opposition net 24 times in Liverpool's jersey and laid out 13 assists in 6,664 minutes of action.

Liverpool star reveals the one thing his club need to do to win trophies in 2024-25 term

After his team's 4-1 pre-season friendly victory over Sevilla on Sunday (August 11), Reds defender Jarell Quansah opined on adapting to head coach Arne Slot's style of play. He told club media:

"It's always going to [become clearer with each match played], it's not going to click straight away. He's got a lot of new ideas that we have to get used to. Obviously, a lot of the lads have played under the last manager [Jurgen Klopp] for quite a while, so it's a lot of adaptation. But it'll come slowly but surely. There's still a lot of work to be done on the training pitch and we'll continue to do that."

Sharing his thoughts on the importance of clean sheets, he continued:

"We're still adapting to a different playing style. I think the clean sheets will come and I think we need to prioritize that this season. There were too many games last season where we conceded cheap goals, and we can't really start games going down, it's not what you need when you're pushing for titles. To set the foundations and keep clean sheets is how you win leagues."

Quansah, 21, has helped Liverpool register nine shutouts in 33 overall outings for his team since making his professional debut last August.

Last campaign, Liverpool conceded 64 goals in 58 overall matches.
