In the coming transfer window, Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush. This is as per Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, who updated about the situation on his X account (formerly Twitter).

The Reds aren't currently utilizing an out-and-out striker under new coach Arne Slot. Diogo Jota has been entrusted with leading the line at Anfield, while Darwin Nunez has been given a secondary role.

This may hint at the fact that there is still room for improvement in the number nine area in Merseyside. However, it looks as though Eintracht Frankfurt are going to do their utmost to keep hold of their Egypt international.

Also conveying the Bundesliga team's intent to extend their striker's contract by another year, Plettenberg wrote:

"Omar Marmoush is on the list of FC Liverpool. The Reds are closely monitoring his situation. Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt want to extend his contract early by one year until 2028. Without a release clause."
"The top priority for SGE is to keep the 25-year-old top striker in the winter."

So far this season, the 25-year-old has made nine appearances across competitions, bagging nine goals and six assists. A move to Liverpool would certainly tempt the forward, given there's a place up for grabs in the first XI.

Moreover, Mamoush would earn himself the chance to compete for the Premier League title and in the Champions League this campaign. Currently, the Reds are atop the English top-flight standings, a point clear of Manchester City and Arsenal, who are second and third, respectively.

Several pundits and journalists, including the likes of Christian Falk and Shaka Hislop, have hinted at the fact that Liverpool should attempt to sign Omar Marmoush.

The Egyptian only joined his current employers in the summer of 2023 on a free transfer from Wolfsburg. To date, he's made 50 appearances across competitions for the club, bagging 26 goals and 12 assists.

Hislop seems to be convinced that Marmoush may be the right fit for the Reds based on what he's seen so far. When recently asked if Liverpool should sign him, he said on ESPN FC (via GIVEMESPORT):

"Sure, why not"

Although the Merseysiders are without a proper number nine at the moment, they have several players who can play the role. The likes of Cody Gakpo, Jota, and Nunez are all among those who can fill in.
