Liverpool are allegedly ready to trigger Spain star Dani Olmo's release clause after the versatile midfielder's stunning performances for his national team at the UEFA Euro 2024.

Olmo, 26, has emerged as a favorite to win both the Golden Ball and Golden Boot awards at the Euro 2024. He has found the back of the opposition net three times and provided two assists in five matches.

Last season, the right-footed Spaniard guided RB Leipzig to a fourth-placed finish in the Bundesliga table. He contributed eight goals and five assists in 25 matches, missing a host of games owing to injuries.

Now, according to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are best positioned to snap up Olmo in the summer transfer window. They will face tough competition from Manchester United and Barcelona in the race to sign the player.

The Reds, who will begin a new era under head coach Arne Slot, are thought to be prepared to activate Olmo's £50 million release clause. With Barcelona in financial trouble now, they are deemed to be Manchester United's biggest competition in the ongoing transfer race.

Ahead of Spain's UEFA Euro 2024 final contest against England on Sunday, Olmo was asked to share his thoughts on his future. The ex-Barcelona youth star replied (h/t TEAMtalk):

"If clubs want me, they know what they can do. There's time until July 20 for [activating] the release clause. Otherwise, later it'd be tough negotiations! I'm under contract at Leipzig and I want to win titles."

Olmo, whose current Leipzig contract is set to expire in June 2027, has helped his club lift three trophies so far. He has scored 29 goals and laid out 34 assists in 148 appearances across competitions for them.

Liverpool superstar lifts lid on future at club following last-four heartbreak at Euro 2024

After Netherlands' 2-1 Euro 2024 semi-final defeat to England, Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk was queried if talks over a new deal at the Anfield outfit have taken place. He replied (h/t 90min):

"I haven't the slightest idea right now. I will think carefully this summer about what I want at club level and as an international player. Then we'll go for it again, but first recover from this. After a season like this, where all kinds of things have happened, it gets emotional at the end because you know it's over."

Van Dijk, 33, currently has a contract until June 2025 at the Reds.

The Liverpool captain, who started 45 club games last season, helped Netherlands register two clean sheets in six outings at the Euro 2024.
