Liverpool are interested in signing Argentine left-back Julio Soler this summer, according to journalist German Garcia Grova. The 19-year-old has impressed for Argentina at the Paris 2024 Olympics and has been identified as a long-term successor to Andy Robertson.

Soler currently plies his trade for Argentine Primera Division outfit Lanus, where he made his senior debut in April 2022. He has impressed there ever since, providing two assists in 36 appearances across competitions. In addition, Soler has also shone at the Olympics 2024, where he made four appearances for Argentina before being knocked out by France in the quarter-finals.

Liverpool have reportedly made contact with Lanus over a possible move for Soler. Robertson missed 26 games last season due to injury and is still on the mend after suffering a knock during Euro 2024. Moreover, Kostas Tsimikas hasn't been convincing, hence Soler's arrival would provide some much-needed depth at left-back.

The Argentine is currently valued at $15 million - a price the Reds could afford. The Merseysiders are yet to make a signing this summer so it remains to be seen if they go ahead with the transfer.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot gives his verdict on the Reds' US pre-season tour

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has conveyed his pleasure with the outcome of their pre-season tour in the United States. While he credited the Reds for their results, he also pointed out where they need to improve following their 3-0 win against Manchester United (August 3).

The Reds have looked sharp during their friendlies so far, defeating Real Betis (1-0), Arsenal (2-1), and Manchester United. Their youngsters, particularly Fabio Carvalho, have stepped up in the absence of established superstars like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Alisson Becker.

During the post-match press conference, when asked about their tour, Slot said (via Liverpool's official website):

"Very positive, I think. Of course the results, that's where everybody is looking at. But players stayed fit and they are able to perform in the way we want, so [a] high-intensity game. We saw some great goals during this tour, some great build-up situations and I see them working really, really hard not to concede.
"Like I said, today I think we gave away too many chances, United deserved more than a 3-0 loss. But it's also our quality that we do score our own chances."

The Reds next face Sevilla in a friendly at Anfield on Sunday, August 11.
