Liverpool are reportedly keen to sign Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo, who has lately attracted attention from Manchester City, this summer.

Rodrygo, 23, has popped up as one of the best in the business due to his excellent performances for Los Blancos in the past few seasons. He has helped the La Liga giants lift a total of 11 trophies so far.

However, according to Spanish website Mundo Deportivo, Rodrygo could be on his way out of Real Madrid following Kylian Mbappe's arrival. As a result, Liverpool are keeping close tabs on the 27-cap Brazil international, whose current contract is set to run out in June 2028.

Rodrygo, who reportedly has a release clause of around £860 million, could decide to leave Los Blancos to establish himself as a starter at the Reds. He could be sold to the Merseyside club for a price way lower than his staggering exit clause, as per the aforesaid report.

So far, Rodrygo has made 216 appearances across all competitions for his club so far. The Manchester City target has bagged 54 goals and laid out 41 assists for his team since arriving from Santos in 2019.

Ex-Liverpool striker names Real Madrid as the only club that could rope in 25-year-old

During a chat with British betting website Casino Hawks, ex-Reds forward Michael Owen was queried to opine on Trent Alexander-Arnold's future at the Anfield outfit. He replied (h/t DAZN):

"With Trent Alexander-Arnold and the Real Madrid speculation, I was also put in a position during my career in which I had to make a quick decision in a week or so on my future and it was a tricky one. Obviously, Real Madrid at the moment are the best team in Europe. They are the biggest team in the world and have that iconic kit and their players... it's the best stage in Europe."

Owen, who left his boyhood club to join Los Blancos in 2004, added:

"Having said that, he's so ingrained into Liverpool and the fans love him, he's grown up with the club and it's such a strong connection. It's only Real Madrid that could make him have a think, if not then you'd have to assume he'll be at Liverpool forever. I hope that is the case but he might have a decision to make."

Alexander-Arnold, 25, has a contract until next June at the Anfield club.

The 25-year-old full-back is likely to start Liverpool's Premier League encounter at promoted side Ipswich Town this Saturday (August 17).
