Liverpool's transfer window is likely to kickstart with the club eyeing Argentinian Julio Soler as their first signing of the transfer window. According to Argentine sports television channel TyC Sports, Club Atletico Lanus have received a call from the Premier League side to formalize their interest in the exciting full back.

The 19-year old cemented his place in Lanus' starting XI in the 2023-24 season, making 21 appearances across all competitions. Soler, a dynamic left-back who is known for his pace and dribbling ability, also represented his country at the ongoing Summer Olympics in Paris, where he was coached by former Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano.

Argentina were grouped alongside Morocco, Ukraine, and Iraq at the Games, where they finished second in Group B behind Morocco. Despite their exit in a high-tempered quarter-final against France, Soler's stock continues to rise and he has seemingly impressed the Merseysiders.

Where would Soler fit in at Liverpool?

The report states that the six-time European Champions are unlikely to face any difficulties in signing the youngster if they are prepared to pay the amount Lanus are demanding. The Argentinian club value the left back, whose contract runs till December 2026, at approximately £11.75 million.

This outlay would be more than the 19-time English champions paid for Scotsman Andy Robertson (£8 million) and around the same amount the club paid Olympiacos for Greek full back Kostas Tsimikas, the Reds' two main options for the position.

Joe Gomez, who is of interest to Newcastle United, is also an option for the position while Academy graduates Luke Chambers and Owen Beck have also broken through recently. Liverpool have used the loan market well in recent history and it is likely to continue with Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes' connections. It could very well be that the Merseyside club see the 19-year old as one for the future.

It remains to be seen how Julio Soler would fit in Arne Slot's plans, but the fans would be glad that the club has finally decided to dip into the transfer window to bolster its ranks, having not made any first team signing so far under the Dutchman.
