Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are said to be considering a move to Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli next summer. This is according to a report from CaughtOffSide, who say that the Asian club are interested in signing both players (via Football 365).
Reds fans will be sweating over the futures of these two stars, who are now in the final year of their respective contracts at Anfield. At the moment, there is little information about the pair continuing with the Merseyside outfit.
According to the aforementioned report, Al Ahli are willing to offer both players a three-year deal should they decide to move. Moreover, with the pair well over the age of 30 and nearing the final stages of their professional careers, a transfer to Saudi Arabia is certainly on the cards.
That being said, Salah and Van Dijk continue to play a prominent role for Arne Slot in the current Liverpool squad. So far this season, Salah has made nine appearances across competitions, bagging six goals and five assists. On the other hand, the Dutchman has started every single Premier League and Champions League tie this campaign.
Overall, the Egypt international has made 358 appearances across competitions for Liverpool, bagging 217 goals and 94 assists. Meanwhile, Van Dijk has played 278 matches in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and assisting on 12 occasions.
Both players have a Premier League and a Champions League trophy each from their time at Anfield, along with other honors.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot reacts to Mohamed Salah contract rumors
With the ongoing discussions over Mohamed Salah's contract at Liverpool, club manager Arne Slot has been repeatedly quizzed about the Egyptian's future at press conferences.
He was asked yet again during the pre-match press conference ahead of the Reds' match against Crystal Palace on Saturday (October 5). Responding to this query, Slot said (via The Echo):
