Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal is set to follow in the footsteps of Lionel Messi in agreeing a signature deal with sportswear giants Adidas. The Spanish youngster has taken the world by storm in the last year, earning a nomination for the Ballon d'Or aged just 17.

Lamine Yamal made his professional bow for Barcelona aged just 15 and has gone from strength to strength in the year-and-a-half since then. The teenager has become an undisputed starter for club and country and helped Spain win Euro 2024 earlier this summer.

Footy Headlines reports that in recognition of the incredible career of Yamal so far, Adidas are set to make him one of their biggest stars. He will join the trio of Lionel Messi, Jude Bellingham, and Mohamed Salah in receiving a signature deal with Adidas.

The deal will see Yamal get his own signature logo and custom-made boots carrying his logo. He will work with the company to build his own brand, with work said to be ongoing on that front behind the scenes. The 17-year-old is expected to one day take over from Messi as the lead ambassador for the Adidas speed boot silo.

Lamine Yamal has been an Adidas athlete since February, having picked them over Nike. He will now rub shoulders with the likes of Messi, Bellingham and Salah in representing the brand in his own personalized gear.

Yamal has broken a great number of records in his time with Spain and Barcelona's senior sides. The forward became the youngest player ever to score in La Liga, doing so aged 16 years and 87 days. He also holds the record for being the youngest player and goalscorer for the national team.

Lamine Yamal set to play important role as Adidas aims to overtake Nike

Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal is set to take on a central role as Adidas is looking to upstage rivals Nike amid their struggles this year. The sportswear giants are struggling to meet their revenue targets as a result of inconsistent sales heading into the holiday season, as per Finimize.

Adidas are expected to get a 10% revenue boost in Q3 as they look to close out strong at the end of the 2024 business year. Barcelona youngster Yamal will also look to contribute amid rumors of his receiving a signature line in the coming weeks.

The combination of Yamal's rising stock in global football and the aggressive sales of Adidas' classic Samba and Gazelle sneakers are expected to help the company achieve its revenue goals and upstage rivals Nike at the end of the business year.
