Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce plotting swap deal move involving Manchester United star Jadon Sancho - Reports

Reports have it that Fenerbahce are plotting a swap deal move that will involve Manchester United star Jadon Sancho. The winger has not had the best time at Old Trafford and Jose Mourinho could be swinging a lifeline to Sancho.

After he made a mega-move from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, it looked like Sancho would be one of the most exciting players in United. However, after a sub-par first two seasons, he made only three Premier League appearances in the 2023-24 season before clashing with manager Erik ten Hag.

Jadon Sancho was banished from the first team as he refused to apologize to the manager. He eventually left Old Trafford on a loan return to Borussia Dortmund, where he helped them reach the final of the UEFA Champions League.

He returned to Manchester United after his loan spell ended, and all seems to be well, as he was seen training with the first team. However, there are still rumors that he could continue his career and rejuvenate his form elsewhere.

According to a report from Turkish outlet Sabah (via Manchester Evening News), a swap deal could see Jadon Sancho leave Old Trafford. The Red Devils are reportedly interested in full-back Ferdi Kadioglu, who plays for Fenerbahce, but both clubs have not agreed on a price.

With the Turkish giants demanding €35 million and the English giants offering €10 million, Jadon Sancho could be used to cover the differences. It is uncertain, however, if the Red Devils will be willing to let the English winger leave the club on a permanent deal.

Manchester United academy graduate signs contract extension

If Jadon Sancho stays at Old Trafford, he might get to play alongside Manchester United academy graduate Jonny Evans. The 36-year-old defender has signed a new contract at the club after helping them through an injury crisis last season.

While he was brought on for squad depth, the Red Devils saw their defense seriously affected by injuries. Evans played 30 games in all competitions in the 2023-24 season, helping them win the FA Cup.

In a statement after his renewal, he revealed his pleasure in retaining a spot with his boyhood club, saying (via the official website):

“I am delighted to have extended my contract at Manchester United for another season. To play for this great club and feel the support from our incredible fans is always a privilege."
“Returning to the club last season was an honour; representing the team on the pitch alongside fantastic team-mates under an excellent manager. Winning the FA Cup together was an unforgettable experience; I know we can challenge for more trophies in the season ahead," Evans added.

The defender will be hoping to provide the club with more squad depth in the event of further injuries to the backline this season.
