Chelsea owners BlueCo eyeing up move for 20-year-old Serie A star, keen to send him to Strasbourg - Reports

Chelsea owners BlueCo are reportedly eyeing a move for Hellas Verona youngster Reda Belahyane. The Blues' owners are monitoring the 20-year-old midfielder and plan on signing him for their sister club Strasbourg.

The Ligue 1 team is owned by Todd Boehly and Clearlake's BlueCo Consortium. As a result, several players have transferred from Stamford Bridge to Strasbourg, either on loan or permanently, in order to get more playing time. Andrey Santos, Djorde Petrovic, Caleb Wiley, and Diego Moreira are some players acquired by the Blues in recent seasons who are currently on the books of Strasbourg.

According to TBR Football, Belahyane could become the next youngster to be snapped up by the Chelsea owners. The France-born international has impressed with Hellas Verona this season. He has featured in all of the club's league games this season, playing all but 21 minutes in which he has provided an assist.

Belahyane primarily operates as a defensive midfielder, and his style of play has drawn him comparisons to former Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante. The youngster has also acknowledged the France international as his role model.

As per the report mentioned earlier, Chelsea's owners, BlueCo, are planning to sign Belahyane in 2025. A move to Ligue 1 is more likely than the Premier League. However, the relationship between Strasbourg and Chelsea could potentially pave the way for a future transfer to Stamford Bridge for the Hellas Verona star.


How have Chelsea loanees to Strasbourg performed so far?

The Blues currently have three players on loan at the Ligue 1 club namely Andrey Santos, Djorde Petrovic, and Caleb Wiley.

Santos, 20, initially joined Strasbourg in February 2023 on a half-season loan. However, the deal was extended for one more season, keeping him at the club until the end of the current campaign. The Brazilian midfielder seems to have settled down in France as he has registered three goals and an assist in six games this season.

Petrovic, meanwhile, has also been decent in goal for Strasbourg. The Serbian goalkeeper was forced to move on loan after the Blues added Filip Jorgensen to their ranks. In four league games, he has kept one clean sheet and conceded six times.

American youngster Wiley hasn't performed badly either. The 19-year-old was a regular in the team before a knee injury. Playing as a left-midfielder, he featured in the club's first three league games, registering an assist in that time.
