Bournemouth eyeing up move for ex-Chelsea star as Dominic Solanke closes in on Tottenham move - Reports

Bournemouth have set their sights on former Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham. This comes as their star striker Dominic Solanke prepares for a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Solanke has been a shining light for the Cherries, racking up 19 Premier League goals last season. However, his impressive performances were not ignored by other clubs, with Spurs attempting to get him in their team. With the 26-year-old striker already looking forward to a change in environment, Bournemouth need a replacement.

This has seen them turn towards Serie A, where they have earmarked Tammy Abraham as his successor at the Vitality Stadium, according to Express. The towering English striker, also 26 years of age, has not had the best of times at his current club Roma.

While he turned up with his goalscoring boots on, racking up 17 goals in his debut Serie A season, this number halved by the second season. Last campaign, he scored just once after getting dealt a cruciate ligament injury that saw him miss out on the vast majority of the season.

Roma are reportedly prepared to sell Tammy Abraham, after they signed Artem Dovbyk as his potential replacement. The former Girona striker was one of the best players in La Liga last season, and he will likely be guaranteed more minutes, affecting Abraham's playing time.

With the former Chelsea star taking home over £3.5 million each year, the Italian club would not mind getting him off their wage bill. This will be good news to Bournemouth, but his wages may be an obstacle for the lower-table Premier League club.

While Tammy Abraham was once part of the Chelsea squad, things have changed drastically since he left in 2021. The club have come under new management, with the Boehly-Clearlake consortium in charge, and they have spent a massive £1 billion in the transfer window since taking over.

The signings look set to continue this summer, with academy graduates being sold by the club for pure profit to beat Profit and Sustainability Rules. However, this has not impressed Jamie Carragher, who slammed the club staff, explaining on the Overlap (via Chelsea Chronicle):

“I think those people – we talk about Todd Boehly – there’s people underneath him who I think do the running of the club, scouting players, they’re obsessed with buying players, and they possibly think that if they’re not buying players, what are we doing?

“I do get that feeling with these Chelsea people that it’s constantly like Championship Manager.”
