Barcelona ready to make move for Manchester City star

Barcelona are reportedly ready to make a move for Manchester City right-back Joao Cancelo, who spent the last season on loan at Camp Nou. As reported by Spanish outlet Todo Fichajes, La Blaugrana are prioritizing a permanent move for the Portugal international.

As per the report, Barcelona are prepared to let Sergi Roberto depart this summer whose deal has already expired. The Catalan giants are understood to be preparing for life after the versatile Spain international.

Cancelo spent the last season on loan at Barca from Manchester City and enjoyed a decent campaign. He scored four goals and provided five assists in 42 appearances for the Catalan giants.

Barcelona's first priority at the moment remains Athletic Club and Spain winger Nico Williams. They will reportedly focus on Cancelo after securing the 22-year-old's signature, who stole the show at Euro 2024.

Cancelo is represented by Jorge Mendes, who is understood to have the power to make a deal possible between €20-30 million. The Portuguese full-back is contracted at Manchester City until the summer of 2027 and has no future at the Etihad.

The creative full-back was once a key player under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City but fell out with the manager in the 2022-23 season. He spent the second half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Bayern Munich and the previous campaign at Barcelona.

Manchester City to make a move for Barcelona target: Reports

Manchester City are reportedly plotting a move for Barcelona target Joshua Kimmich. As claimed by Spanish outlet Todo Fichajes, the two European giants are set to go head-to-head for the German midfielder's signature.

Kimmich has been a key player for Bayern Munich since joining the German giants in 2015 from RB Leipzig. However, the 29-year-old faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena with his current deal set to expire in 2025.

Barcelona have been strongly linked with Kimmich for a while now and the rumors have gathered pace after Hansi Flick's appointment. Flick worked with the defensive midfielder at Bayern Munich and the German national team.

However, the Catalan giants are now set to face competition from Manchester City. Kimmich played under Pep Guardiola when the Spaniard was in charge at Bayern and he transformed the German's career. Kimmich has reportedly also attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
