Barcelona and PSG-linked attacker considering retiring from international football after playing just 15 mins at Euro 2024: Reports

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)-linked winger Kingsley Coman is reportedly considering retirement from international football after Euro 2024. The news comes from L’Equipe, who claim that this decision could stem from the fact that the attacker plays a limited role for his national team.

Coman made just one substitute appearance, which lasted 15 minutes in a group-stage match for Les Bleus during this year's European Championships. He is clearly down in the pecking order for wide players under manager Didier Deschamps.

The likes of Kylian Mbappe, Marcus Thuram, Bradley Barcola, and Ousmane Dembele were ahead of Coman for minutes in wide positions at Euro 2024. Moreover, this report adds that the 28-year-old Bayern Munich forward never considered a long career in football.

On top of that, the current France boss, Deschamps, is set to lead the team into the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which could also influence Coman's decision. The former Juventus man wouldn't be the first French star to retire at such a young age from international football, with Raphael Varane having done so at 29.

Up until this point, Coman has made 57 appearances across competitions for France, bagging eight goals and five assists. Unfortunately, he wasn't a part of Les Bleus' World Cup-winning squad in 2018, having suffered a bad injury that kept him out at the time.

Following Euro 2024, Kingsley Coman's club future also remains uncertain, with several reports suggesting that the player could be on his way out of the Allianz Arena.

According to Sport Bild, PSG are willing to bring back Coman, presumably to replace Kylian Mbappe (via One Football). Not only is the player willing to take up a transfer, but the Bavarian side are also said to be interested in selling if the right offer comes their way.

However, a move will not be straightforward, with Barcelona also looking to sign Coman along with an unnamed Premier League club. It is expected that a deal for the winger would cost anywhere between €40 and €50, with three years left on his current deal.

To date, Coman has played 294 matches across competitions for Bayern Munich, bagging 63 goals and 66 assists. He's won the Bundesliga on eight occasions and laid his hands on the UEFA Champions League once, among other honors with the German giants.
