Barcelona will reportedly not be allowed to register any new signing unless they sell players in the current transfer window. According to Que Thi Jugues, it would be a huge issue to complete the signing of Nico Williams (via @BarcaUniversal).

The Bluagrana have reportedly been chasing the Athletic Bilbao winger, who has also drawn interest from Chelsea and Arsenal. It is believed that Hansi Flick and company are willing to trigger the player's release clause to get the deal over the line.

However, the aforementioned report has quoted the Catalan club saying:

"Right now, we can't register anyone. Not Nico Williams, not Dani Olmo, and not a midfielder."

If this is the case, it will be imperative for Barcelona to make some transfers out of the window. They're currently lacking a left-sided wide player who is a sure-shot starter.

Raphinha and Ferran Torres haven't locked down a spot down that left flank. Apart from Williams, the Catalans are also said to be looking at RB Leipzig attacker Dani Olmo, who is versatile and can cover multiple positions (via Football Espana).

The Bundesliga star can operate down the left side and play in an advanced midfield role like he did for Spain at Euro 2024. However, a move for him will not be simple, with the aforementioned report claiming that Atletico Madrid are also eyeing Olmo this summer.

Barcelona midfielder receives offer from Qatar- Reports

Ilkay Gundogan
Ilkay Gundogan

With Barcelona needing to sell players in order to register new signings, Ilkay Gundogan's links with a move to Qatar couldn't have come at a better time. The Germany international has received a three-year contract offer from Al-Sadd, claims Catalunya Radio (via Barca Blaugranes).

According to this report, the Catalans are willing to offload the midfielder, given the right offer is tabled. It would also seem like an ideal time to sell Gundogan with only a year left on the player's contract after he joined for free from Manchester City in 2023.

Should Barcelona look to bring in a new midfielder of similar qualities, they shouldn't have a problem in replacing the 33-year-old. To date, he's made 51 appearances across competitions for his current employers, bagging five goals and 14 assists.

With Gundogan approaching the final leg of his career, a move away from Europe might suit him.
