Arsenal ready to sell £45 million-rated star as they look to bolster squad - Reports

Brighton & Hove Albion v Arsenal FC - Premier League
Arsenal FC manager Mikel Arteta

Arsenal are reportedly willing to sell Gabriel Jesus in the summer transfer window. The Times claim that the Brazilian attacker is now available after losing his starting place in the Gunners XI (via The Boot Room).

Towards the end of the 2023/24 season, it was Kai Havertz who was preferred in the number nine role ahead of Jesus. With the former Manchester City striker also suffering from injuries, he never managed to lock down the position.

Overall, the 27-year-old managed 27 appearances in the Premier League, of which he started only 17 games. Moreover, Jesus struggled to find the back of the net and scored just four goals in the English top flight.

His poor form and Arteta's preference to play Havertz up top could mean that the Brazilian heads into the new campaign as Arsenal's second-choice striker. With these circumstances, a move away from the Emirates may suit Jesus as opposed to remaining at the club.

He joined the Gunners from Manchester City in the summer of 2022 for a reported fee of £45 million. Since then, Jesus has made 69 appearances across competitions for the north London outfit, bagging 19 goals and 15 assists.

Even if Arsenal lose the forward, they could turn to Leandro Trossard as the second choice in this position, someone more than capable of playing there.

Arsenal have been linked with several strikers this summer, including Napoli's Victor Osimhen. However, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), among other sides, are also said to be interested in the Nigeria international.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the Parisians are ahead in the race for the player's signature. Speaking about the current situation with Osimhen, Romano said (via Now Arsenal):

"Paris Saint-Germain are advancing in talks with Victor Osimhen's camp as their interest isonow getting concrete. Osimhen, keen on joining PSG and open to move if they can agree on deal/fee with Napoli."
"He's be very high on the PSG list, if one centre striker is left."

It is believed that Osimhen has a whopping £113 million release clause that may need to be met to complete a deal for him. He's currently contracted with his Italian employers till the summer of 2026.

To date, the Nigerian has made 108 appearances in Serie A, bagging 65 goals and 16 assists.
